Abstract:

This project introduces a Smart Waste Segregation Bin that automatically classifies waste into wet and dry categories using simple sensors. The IR sensor detects motion in front of the bin, triggering the lid to open automatically, which enhances user hygiene and convenience. Once the waste is placed inside, a soil moisture sensor checks for moisture content, helping the system differentiate between wet and dry waste. According to the sensor readings, a servo motor mechanism directs the garbage into the correct compartment. LEDs and buzzers are integrated for user notifications. The bin is made from easily available materials such as cardboard, making it low-cost and suitable for small-scale deployment.
